My favourite albums for each year I've been alive

There's a meme going around in which you name your favourite album from each year you've been alive. As a lover of music I just had to do this. The albums I name before I discovered music are either those that I remember from my parents' collection, or imagine they would have, or that I heard later on. Some years are blank simply because none of the albums from that year connected. Some years I had to pick 2 or 3 albums - it was too tough to call. In fact, the whole 1970s and 1980s was unfairly full of fantastic albums. This list took a great deal of time and effort to compile. I urge you that if you decide to take the torch and compile a similar list on your own blog (or other online resource), please put a link to it in the comments. 1961 - Take Five by Dave Brubeck 1962 - By Request by Perry Como 1963 - Please Please Me by The Beatles 1964 - A Hard Day's Night by The Beatles 1965 - A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi 1966 - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by Simon and Garfunkel 1967 - Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues 1968 - The Transformed Man by William Shatner 1969 - Crosby, Stills & Nash 1970 - After the Gold Rush by Neil Young 1971 - Meddle by Pink Floyd 1972 - On Record by April Wine / Can't Buy a Thrill by Steely Dan 1973 - Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd 1974 - Crime of the Century by Supertramp / Autobahn by Kraftwerk 1975 - Dream Weaver by Gary Wright / One of These Nights by The Eagles / Face The Music by ELO 1976 - Boston / Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton (live) 1977 - Aja by Steely Dan / Rumours by Fleetwood Mac / Out of The Blue by ELO 1978 - The Cars / Double Vision by Foreigner / Dire Straits 1979 - In Through the Out Door by Led Zeppelin / Broken English by Marianne Faithfull 1980 - Duke by Genesis / Back in Black by AC/DC 1981 - Moving Pictures by Rush / Architecture and Morality by OMD / The Friends of Mr Cairo by Jon & Vangelis 1982 - Upstairs at Eric's by Yazoo / The Golden Age of Wireless by Thomas Dolby 1983 - Sweet Dreams are Made of This by The Eurythmics / 90125 by Yes 1984 - Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise by Art of Noise / Building the Perfect Beast by Don Henley 1985 - Songs from the Big Chair by Tears for Fears / White City by Pete Townshend 1986 - The Colour of Spring by Talk Talk / So by Peter Gabriel 1987 - The Joshua Tree by U2 / Kick by INXS 1988 - Watermark by Enya 1989 - Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty / Cosmic Thing by The B52's 1990 - Chill Out by The KLF / Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes 1991 - Solace by Sarah McLachlan 1992 - Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos / Diva by Annie Lennox / Moodfood by Moodswings 1993 - Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow / The Cross of Changes by Enigma 1994 - The Division Bell by Pink Floyd / The Divine Comedy by Milla Jovovich / Hell Freezes Over by The Eagles 1995 - Medusa by Annie Lennox / The Presidents of the United States of America 1996 - Odelay by Beck / Walking Wounded by Everything but the Girl 1997 - In Loving Memory of... by Big Wreck / The Dance by Fleetwood Mac (live) 1998 - Ray of Light by Madonna / Breath From Another by Esthero 1999 - Play by Moby / Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós 2000 - Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia by The Dandy Warhols / The facts of Life by Black Box Recorder 2001 - Simple Things by Zero 7 / The Invisible Band by Travis 2002 - Melody A.M. by Röyksopp / A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay 2003 - Ohio by Over the Rhine 2004 - When It Falls by Zero 7 / Finally Woken by Jem 2005 - Low - The Great Destroyer / Aerial by Kate Bush 2006 - On an Island by David Gilmour / Corinne Bailey Rae 2007 - Memento Mori by The Bastard Fairies 2008 - Amy Winehouse - Back to Black 2009 -  ... Please tell me you're kidding about the William Shatner year.

I threw that in there because

a) I wanted to see if anyone would notice;
b) It was the only album from that year that I recognized;
c) It was better than leaving the year blank

LOL
