Origins of food

There's no way of knowing if it's accurate, but this food time-line graph attempts to chronicle when various types of food came into existence, or at least became commonplace.

Surprises (for me) include: Donuts became popular thanks to the Salvation Army in Chicago in 1917, but their origins are more likely from the early 19th century, courtesy of Dutch settlers. Sloppy Joes date back to 1935. Life cereal has been around as long as I have. Peanut butter arrived in 1895 and was considered a luxury health food at its introduction.
