Recession equals sped up progress

An article by Mike Elgan of Computer World named '10 things that won't survive the recession'. As he puts it:

" ...individual people and companies today have very-low-cost, high-efficiency alternatives for doing a wide range of activities. That will accelerate the demise of those things fated to be replaced anyway."

I hope he's right about number two and wrong abut number ten.

What about #7 Karl - aren't you a Palm fan?

Yes I am. But I'm neutral on the prediction, considering that Palm hasn't done anything spectacular in the last 2 years or more. Although I like my Palm, other companies are leaving them in the dust, especially in the smart phone arena. And I need a new all-in-one device. Now.
