Is Apple getting the message on DRM?

Apple announced today that it would be removing DRM restrictions from all of its digital music in the next few months. It might mean you have to pay a little more for the music - iTunes music will come in three prices: $0.69, $0.99 and $1.29. The prices will be set by the record companies.

Amazon has been selling DRM-free music since 2007.

Digital Rights Management. In plain English, something added to digital music, video, etc., that restricts what you can do with it. Such as how many devices you can copy a file to or if you can copy at all. I've posted about the foibles of DRM a number of times on this blog. If you search 'DRM' in that search box at the top left corner of the main page, you'll see all the posts I've done on what effect DRM has on consumers.
