Spring is here! (not officially - but work with me people)

What a glorious day it is today. The temperature is a balmy 17 Degrees Celsius (62F for all you non-metric dinosaurs), the sun is shining, the snow is rapidly melting....

It was way too nice to eat lunch in the office cubicle today, so a few of us went to a burger bus nearby. Darlene will no doubt wonder why I'm not that hungry at supper-time, but oh well. You just can't pass up an opportunity to dine on some shredded BBQ cow sandwiches on a picnic table under the warming March sun. Of course I had the home-made fries.....

Yes, that picture is indeed a weather graph, stolen from wx.ca. I am a weather junkie and I have at least 5 weather related sites bookmarked in my browser.

Karl, could you recommend when it would be a good time to take the winter tires off the car? I don't want to swap 'em too early...

Take them off?!! Take them off?!! You never take them off........

You know - what with freak snowstorms in June and all that.

Besides, what would driving be like without all that tire noise? Like - you don't actually want to 'hear' your car stereo, do you?

But you see karl, the car came with summer performance tires, which give it much better traction on dry surfaces. The car just handles better. The winter tires are just for those seasons like we just went through, cuz on ice, the summer tires give me no traction.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were being serious. I wasn't being serious. I have no freaking clue when to take winter tires off. Why? Because to be honest, I don't use winter tires.

Wait a second - catch your breath - that's right, I go the whole year with all season tires. I know it's not the best idea, but I like living on the edge. Besides, it gives my Vehicle Stability Assist something to do part of the year.

Yeah. I have no problem with all seasons, when the cars with them are being extra cautious on days (or weeks) where people shouldn't be on the road at all. The reason I have winter tires, is that the stock tires on my car are low profile italian performance tires. (think rock hard) And they are useless in snow or ice.
