I have already mentioned this before, but I have developed a demonstration seminar for Ubuntu Linux for Chinook Learning Services in Calgary. The seminar never ran in the fall due to lack of numbers signed up, but it is scheduled to run again in the spring if anyone wants to see Ubuntu in action.
Anyway, along with setting the demo up, I've been looking for supporting material to help people who decide to try Ubuntu. Although there is plenty of online help, some people just like the old fashioned method of reading a book - or finding a manual-esque document to peruse. Which is cool. So I've been trolling the local bookstores to see what they're stocking on Ubuntu. Holy disappointment, Batman! I can count the number of Linux books I've seen on shelves in every store combined on my two hands and have plenty of fingers left over.
So it was with much rejoicing that I discovered a certain book is not only available online - but you can buy it cheaper as a PDF document! The book is Ubuntu Linux for Non-Geeks
- A Pain-Free, Project-Based, Get-Things-Done Guidebook by Rickford Grant and it can be gotten online (as a PDF file) for USD$20.95 - or you can kill a tree and get the paper version for USD$34.95 - or you can get both for USD$41.95

The Library has Ubuntu Unleashed by Paul Hudson and Beginning Ubuntu Linux by Keir Thomas with CD on order when they get them who knows? My connection at the CPL can't tell me. They have lots of copys of Linux for Dummies that cover the new Ubunt. www.calgarypubliclibrary.com an underused resource in my opinion
