Have you seen how small external hard drives have become lately? I can remember when they were the size of a pile of 3 or 4 DVD cases, now they're barely bigger than a cigarette pack and they don't need a separate power source - they'll draw all the power they need from your USB port. I just bought me one of these babies, described here.
