You decide

Who should be the next Pope? I mean, shouldn't it be an election? Or we could have a reality TV show called Pope-stars. No I mean really - if the Pope must be decided by Divine intervention, surely God would be able to influence the outcome of the votes.....

My vote goes to the character in the post above.Posted by Hello

Good thing the Roman Catholics are known to have such a good sense of humour....

I do believe, however, that the Pope actually is elected but the only ones that are allowed to vote are the High-Bishops-With-Giant-Heads or something like that. You might want to double-check my work, sometimes I get names wrong.

Interestingly enough (to me), part of the reason for the Protestant revolution was that prior to that point, the RC Church had stuck to a strict rule that the Pope had to be able to trace his lineage directly back to John the apostle. After a handful of centuries had passed it became more unlikely that someone who could actually trace their lineage back to John really wasn't interested in being Pope. The masses then began to get suspcious that their Pope really wasn't divine after all and added fuel to the Protestant revolution.

Or something like that....
