It's a ball.... camera

The Panono spherical camera is basically a small ball containing 36 cameras around its surface, with the ability to create a 108 megapixel spherical image.

It works by throwing the ball up in the air. When it senses it's reached the apex of the throw, it snaps the picture. This gives you a real 360 degree panorama.
