Climate change - what to believe

The hottest topic of the last decade, global climate change, has a few people hot under the collar and has polarized the debate about whether it's real and if it is - who or what is causing it. My position on the matter has always been that there is enough of a scientific base of support for the warming model that it must be accurate. At least until an equally sized or larger scientific base indicate otherwise. There's still some debate as to the who or what is causing it, but the majority believe it is CO2 and methane, much of which is caused by us.

But there are a lot of people who are quite insistent that it's all a hoax. Notice that I said people, not scientists. Don't get me wrong, the (non-scientist) believers aren't without fault either, as you'll see if you take the time to watch this series of videos from a former science journalist. Yes, he's only a journalist, but he seems to do a good job shining the spotlight on every side of the issue and unlike most armchair hypothesizers, he uses references. Even Al Gore is shown to hype things up a little. The bottom line? Every amateur hypothesis being offered today may be based on a scientific fact, but these pundits are only selectively choosing from one of dozens of factors that all affect climate together.

It's a great series. It starts with '1. Climate change - the scientific debate' and ends with '10. Climate change - An imminent ice age'. In these videos, every angle of the global warming debate is examined, even the alternate theories. Yeah, climate-gate too.
