Imagine if there was a song, a great song that people love to sing along to, especially the coda. Imagine if it became the longest (duration) hit single ever wrote at the time, and the longest single to top the charts, bought by more than eight million people.
I often think about that when I listen to Hey Jude, which was (according to Paul) written about and for Julian Lennon, to comfort him during the period of his parents' divorce. I mean seriously, the next time you listen to the song, pretend it was written just for you. It gives the song a whole new slant. I don't know about you, but if I was Julian Lennon, it would rock to have a song you could put on when you were feeling down. A song where the Beatles sing some of the most uplifting lyrics meant to make you feel better.
That rocks.....
Side note: For the longest time, John Lennon actually thought it was written for him, which made sense to him, as Yoko had just come into the picture, which Paul denied.
