The latest DRM fiasco

So if you're not a computer gamer, you probably didn't hear this story. In an effort to curb PC game pirates, the makers of Assasin's Creed II and Silent Hunter 5 (Ubisoft), have implemented a DRM process whereby you can only play the game (with a legitimately bought copy of the games) if you have a constant connection to the internet to connect to their DRM servers. The moment you lose connection to their servers, the game closes. You lose.

Here's the best part. The DRM servers at Ubisoft have been the target of attacks by hackers, which has prevented a large portion of the gamers who actually bought the game from playing it, because they can't log on to the DRM servers. Meanwhile, those who downloaded a pirated copy of the game (in which the DRM was broken / disabled), have no trouble playing the game because they do not need to connect to anything to play it.

So in the end..... as per freaking usual.... the only people who have been inconvenienced by the DRM are the legitimate owners. The pirates have no issues at all.

Well done Ubisoft. This is why I will never buy any of your games. Evar.
