Piles and piles

I typically don't blog about work, but I saw something today that made me go 'hmmmm'. It's OK, names will be omitted to protect the innocent.

There is an individual at work who, if you walked by their desk, you'd do a double take. That's because their desk is piled with papers from one end to the other - and it's a big desk – one of those wrap around u-shaped manager-sized monsters. I'm not talking about little piles either. These piles of paper average a foot high or more - each. That doesn't sound like much, but stick a ruler vertically on your desk and you'll see that a foot high stack of paper is a big stack. Now imagine more than a dozen of these piles.

What's truly bizarre is that although the scene looks like a complete and total disaster, this individual knows exactly where everything is. Ask them to produce a document or drawing and this person reaches into the appropriate pile and pulls it out - first try.

I think this person is a savant.

I ask my readers - do you have any co-workers that have a peculiar trait or ability? Feel free to answer in the comments.

The picture is not of the mentioned desk, however, it is a fair representation of what it looks like.

My Daddy always told me that you could only pile it about three feet high before it starts to slide over. He was speaking of manure at the time. Retro
