I was in the mood for a burger and home cut fries...

In a roundabout way, my new job is like the gift that keeps on giving. Coming up on lunch time today, I casually mentioned that I was craving a burger bus. Airdrie doesn't have many - or any right now - what ones do exist are closed for the winter. My colleague mentioned that someone who used to work at my current workplace quit to operate a burger and fry joint at a Rest Area on the west side of the QEII highway, just north of Airdrie.

Intrigued, I went to check it out, as it's only 10km north of town. There it was, just as reported, in a nice little rest area with an interpretive tourist centre. I had the cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink for just under $9. The burger was decent. It could have been frozen - hard to tell, but the toppings made up for it. The fries were home cut. If they weren't fresh then that was a pretty good trick. All in all, they ain't Rocky's Burger Bus, but they're fairly close. Picnic tables outside are a nice touch.

I'd go back. Next time, I'm trying a hot dog.
