Well, that was fun. Considering that my commute is about 40km each way and about half of that would be considered a rural drive, I knew today's drive home from work through a blizzard with near zero visibility would be interesting. To add to the excitement, there were multiple multi-vehicle pile-ups on the road I needed to get home on and at one point it was announced that the highway into Calgary was closed indefinitely.
Undaunted, I made sure my gas tank was full and after talking to someone who had just driven in the opposite direction to where I was going, I headed out. The blowing snow really made things dicey, but everyone was playing it smart and had all their lights on including hazards. So that made it easier to see what was happening, but it still wasn't an easy drive. I passed so many vehicles in the ditch, I lost count. I made it home in one piece and it took me almost 2 hours to go 40kms.
I feel sorry for the people who stayed put at work, because things are only getting worse with each passing hour.

Should I go to work? I work at 10:00 tonight until 6:30 am. I'm still debating.

By the time you'd venture out, the roads should be mostly empty.
