Here is a fascinating article about how science often ignores experiment failures for the discoveries that they are.

This puts a whole new perspective on why science can move rather slowly to new discoveries.

Yea, it's called confirmation bias. It's the human trait of mitigating or ignoring evidence that contradicts what we already believe. We and even reinterpret data to fit our bias. It's kinda of weird. Once you're aware of it, you see it everywhere . . .
