Here's two questions for my readers and any sci-fi fan out there.
1. What was the first science fiction book you ever read?
2. Now, what was the last science fiction book you ever read?
My first book was The City of Gold and Lead by John Christopher and the last book was Blue Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson.

The very first "Sci-fi" I ever read were my cousin Carles collection of Tom Swift books.
I remember reading a story about Mars in a children' magazine, and being impressed that I could celebrate two birthdays in one years. First published book I remember reading was Robert A. Heinlein's "Stranger In Paradise" if I have the title correct. His story about an Earth expedition who brings back a human raises in Mars culture. My last sci-fi book, which I am now re-reading is "IceRigger" by Alan Dean Foster.
Good stuff!!
The first one I remember reading was "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, in Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine at the Winnipeg Public Library. Eventually he re-wrote it into novel form, and wrote an entire universe around it with 12 novels and short stories. Still one of my favourites. I'm "re-reading" it by listening to it on my iPhone.
It was either that or Asimov's "Foundation" Trilogy. Still a classic. I should dig it up and re-read it. That and the John Carter of Mars series. Or was it Heilein's "Starship Troopers".
Aargh - I've hit a memory landmine!
p.s. The book Retro Blog is thinking of is "Stranger in a Strange Land". I have both the original and un-abridged versions. Interesting comparative reading.
If you read that at home, the book is probably still there. I read it, too. It was in the brown bookshelf. I liked it :) H.
It wouldn't surprise me.
Thanks for Stranger In A Strange Land title correction, it was one of my favorites for years and I also purchased the unabridged edition. I too have a memory land mind, many MANY titles come up.
Any one every read "Alas Babylon" By Pat Frank? I learned that thieves should not steal irradiated jewelery.
