If you ever get a chance to watch the 25th anniversary Rock n Roll Hall of Fame concert that was filmed at MSG in New York, do yourself a favour and watch it. It pops up from time to time on cable. I have to say off the top, that the show was dotted with performances that I would label as irrelevant (my opinion), but I was very moved by some key parts of the show. Karl's highlights:
A reunited Simon and Garfunkel sing The Sounds of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water like they were still on top. U2 invite Mick Jagger on stage to sing Gimme Shelter, with Fergie providing the backup vocal - she nailed it too. 23 year old Tal Wilkenfeld playing bass with Jeff Beck - this girl's got a bright future (check out her solo recorded in 2007 at Crossroads - she was 21 in this video).
