But you never heard it from me...

If you work somewhere that has Websense filtering on the corporate network, you may find it annoying that you can’t get to your favourite download sites to get access to your favourite freeware utilities for installation on your computer. Been there.... done that.

Luckily, I are an enterprising individual (pun intended perhaps) and found a nifty little tool that can help you download and install your favourite applications from one (as yet unblocked) site, assuming you still have install permissions on your PC at work.

The site is Ninite. On the page, you’ll find all your favourite alternate browsers; media players including VLC; imaging apps like Irfanview, The Gimp and Paint.net; OpenOffice; the Foxit PDF reader; CDBurnerXP, 7-Zip and so much more. Getting the apps are a breeze. Just place a checkmark in the box next to any and all programs you want and Ninite will not only fetch them, but roll them all into one handy little install file that will install everything you’ve selected.

I needed to install the VLC media player (for legitimate work purposes) and was blocked at every turn. Ninite to the rescue.
