Who would like to venture a guess how much it costs a Canadian cell phone customer to talk for 22 minutes on their (Fido) cell phone while roaming in the US?
Any takers? You over there in the plaid shirt.
Plaid: "$6.60"
No, I'm sorry, that's what it would cost with the highest Fido pay-as-you-go rate, calling within Canada. Next? How about you, over there. With the Converse day-glo sneakers.
Converse: "Uhh...... $12?"
You're just groping, aren't you? You have no idea. Neither did I. I'll clear up the suspense once and for all. The actual cost for a Canadian cell phone customer to talk for 22 minutes on their cell phone while roaming in the US is $32.03. That works out to $1.45 per minute.
This is my look of disgust. It looks just like my look of disdain. Not to be confused with my looks of scorn, or contempt.
Calling AT&T....... please come to Canada..... (AT&T treat all of North America as one country - no long distance, I'm not sure about the roaming charges)

Yikes! That's really a lot. Im wondering if its the other way around. I wonder how much it cost for an American cell phone customer to talk for 22 minutes on their cell phone while roaming in Canada...
I went to AT&T's site and after much searching, found that the standard roaming rate in Canada for US AT&T customers is $0.79 per minute. If you subscribe to a monthly plan add-on for $4.99, you can cut that down to $0.59 per minute. Still, $0.79 is way better than $1.45.
We could get an extension on our plan for one month coverage in Canada or Mexico. When you come back after that time the coverage is gone...all for a one time fee of $10, no long distance or roaming charges.
Oh, and Karl we didn't talk long each time you called did we? sorry.
Oh no worries Carla. I wasn't thinking about conserving minutes or anything on our trip. I was just venting about our ridiculous rates. It's just one more thing our mobile providers take advantage of.
