I have a theory: The theory of feather shift

In a feather duvet, the feathers will always shift away from the side of the bed occupied by the person who is always cold (typically - but not necessarily - the woman). This shift is unstoppable and will even occur if the duvet has baffles to prevent said shifting. Feathers are so attracted by some mysterious force to the person who needs the protective insulation of feathers the least, that said feathers will actually pierce through the fabric and escape the bonds of the duvet closest to the person who is always warm.

I vividly remember my grandmother's feather bed, it stayed fluffed for roughly one minute, then it settled pretty flat all
by
itself....
