Southwest of Calgary, away from the light pollution, is an observatory operated by the University of Calgary. The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory will finally be open to the public when it matters most - at night! This takes place from Wednesday August 19th until Tuesday August 25th.
Each night (weather permitting) the observatory will be open from 10pm until 2am for late Night observing to view deep space objects with their large telescopes.
August 25th marks the 400th anniversary of Galileo's demonstration of the telescope in Venice, Italy.
