I notice that whenever Darlene and I organize a garage sale, I'm always looking for a reasonable return on the stuff we're selling and she's practically willing to give stuff away. Literally. I always joke with her that if we ever ran a store, I could never put her in charge of prices, or we'd go broke.
Well, it turns out we're not the only couple who are like this. We went garage sale-ing yesterday and Darlene found a pair of nice solid wood bar stools and the nice lady let us have them for $10. For both! As she was telling us the price, the husband came outside and said "Seriously? Ten bucks!?" I felt his pain. At the next sale, I spotted the first 4 seasons of Family Guy on DVD in brand new condition. I asked how much. The woman hosting the sale said, "$15. But hurry, before my husband finds out." Score for me. Woe for him.
Speaking of garage sales, after browsing Kijiji before we headed out, it seems that the new fad is hosting garage sales dressed up as fund raisers for hospitals in Africa and stuff. I don't know...... is this legit, or is this how we host garage sales while guilting buyers into paying higher prices on items?
