Water Use

Society has made a big deal of late about the amount of water we use in our homes, but did you ever stop to consider how much water is used to create the things we consume on a daily basis? For example, we've reduced the amount of water our toilets use from 6 gallons to 1.3 gallons per flush, and our showers from 38 gallons for a 10 minute shower to 23 gallons.

But did you know that it takes 37 gallons of water to make the stuff of which coffee is made, versus 9 gallons for tea? Or that two eggs require 72 gallons to get them ready for purchasing at a store? It gets worse, as you'll see on this page.
