Latitude tracking tool for Google mobile maps

Google has added a new capability to their mobile maps tool that allows you to track the movements of consenting family and friends (and vice versa). Only available for Blackberry, Windows Mobile devices and Google Android devices for now, but iPhone eventually.

Some questions people might want to ask themselves about location-based services like this:
  • Who do I really want to share this kind of personal information with?
  • Are there places I go that I don't want people to know about?
  • Will I remember to block my location every time I'm somewhere or doing something that I don't want people to know about?
  • Are people going to make bad assumptions based on where I am — like when I'm sitting on a bench outside a strip club or an abortion clinic?
  • Will this information be used for other purposes? Could my insurance company buy this data, etc.?
An Ernest contribution.
