American Express has become a bank - just in time to request a $3.5 billion slice of the taxpayer-funded bailout pie.The best part of this whole bailout scheme is that Joe Consumer will see dollar nothing. And there likely won't be any sympathy from financial companies getting around the penalties and so forth when loans and mortgages default either.
Yeah....... this bailout was such a great idea, eh? Can you say 'trough'?
