People often wonder why I seem to side with the cause of de-criminalizing marijuana. Some automatically assume I have a personal, selfish motive behind my position. The fact is - if marijuana were de-criminalized, my life would not change much - I cannot speak for others of course. No, I wish it because it makes sense to me. The 'war on drugs' has never born any fruit except to destroy lives - and not the lives of the so-called king pins either. They continue to reap the profits associated with a high value illegal substance. These are my thoughts on the matter.
Cory Doctorow over at BoingBoing links to an eye-opening trio of stories that help illustrate just what the 'war on drugs' is doing to people.
Pictured is Dr. Donald Tashkin, whose studies concluded that marijuana use is not linked to lung cancer (one of the 3 stories the BoingBoing post links to).
