Geo-trivia!

The border between these 2 states (in the USA) is a perfect curve......

Name the 2 states and for bonus geek points, name the place the arc of the circle is centred on.

..............and GO!

Delaware and Pennsylvania is right. My sources have the arc centred elsewhere. Specifically the cupola of the courthouse at New Castle, Delaware.

History of this arc known as "Twelve-Mile Circle" is very interesting. The Circle extends east as well and causes a piece of land known as "the wedge". Look up the wedge on wiki for a piece of damn interesting usless information. The circle also causes a tiny peninsula of New Jersey on the Delaware river to be a part of Delaware in the south east part of "the circle". The final piece of damn interesting border of Delaware history is that the Delaware river is entirely within Delaware along the New Jersey/Delaware border instead of running down the middle of the river as would be normal. See the following excerpt from wiki:
"The fact that the circle extends into the Delaware River makes for an unusual territorial possession. Most territorial boundaries that follow watercourses split the water course between the two territories by one of two methods, either by the midpoint of the watercourse (the Grotian Method, after Hugo Grotius) or, more often, midpoint of the main flow channel, or thalweg. However, due to the text of the deed, within the Twelve-Mile Circle, all the Delaware River to the low-tide mark on the east (New Jersey) side is territory of the state of Delaware."

I really really gotta stop lurking......
