Let those recipes go.... edition 4 (another Karl submission)

I felt it was time to share another recipe with the world to try and get this ball rolling a little faster. Feel free to send me your favourite recipes to share with my readers. Just fire them off to my email address [kplesz is the username and hotmail is the service]. This particular entry is not traditional Spanish Rice, it's sweet as opposed to spicy. So kids will love it. You will too.

Karl’s Blow Your Mind Spanish Rice

1 ½ cups uncooked minute rice
28 oz. of stewed tomatoes
7 oz. Can of tomato paste
1 lb. Ground beef
1 large green pepper
1 small onion
Pinch of Chives
4 tbsp. Ketchup
2 tbsp. prepared mustard
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. Worcester sauce
¼ tsp. Seasoned salt

Brown ground beef in deep skillet. Once almost cooked, drain fat and add seasoned salt, Worcester sauce, onion, green pepper and chives. Simmer on medium heat, covered, 7-10 minutes or until veggies are tender. Stir often. Stir in stewed tomatoes, paste, ketchup, mustard and brown sugar. Mixture should be quite soupy. If not, add a little water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 15-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Longer simmer time requires lowest heat. When ready to add rice, bring to low boil. Add rice, mix well, remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5-7 minutes. Serves 3-4.
