Cameras are fun

Darlene just got back from another cruise, this time she went with her sister. That's right, Karl was left home alone.... for a week!

Anyway, I lent Darlene a little digital camera so she could take lots of pictures during the cruise and made the mistake of not giving her a quick crash course on the controls. So, I'm as much to blame for this as anybody. The point is, as we were looking through the collection of photos downloaded from the camera, we noticed that the last few were mini-movies instead of still photos. I asked if she had done that on purpose and it became obvious that she had no idea mini-movies were even possible with the camera. The funny part is that because she thought the mini-movies she was taking were in fact still photos, we got to see the process that goes into picture taking before and after the shutter goes off. Especially funny was the movie where Darlene gave the camera to someone to take her and her sister's picture. You see Darlene's face go from posed tourist smile to serious frown of concern as she's wondering if the picture taker knows what they're doing, back to the posed tourist smile again. We had a good laugh over that one.

This blog post was sanctioned in advance by Darlene.
