I love technology solutions. Especially when it involves other technology.
I own a Palm Tungsten E. It's known for having a flaw. The power button at the top tends to wear out prematurely. It's easy to turn the Palm on - just press any button on the front. But the only way to turn it off is to use the power button or wait for it to time out, which wastes battery power.
Luckily, I discovered Offstroke. This nifty little application for the Palm allows you to turn the thing off by running the stylus across a particular part of the screen, in this case I turn it off by going from top left to bottom right in the graffiti area. So I don't need to use the power button any more.

I've had the same problem with mine. the only problem is if you have to do a total system wipe and reset. to do that you either have to let the battery totally die and then recharge or you have to open the back and press the reset button while you are shorting out across the two spots on the circuit board where the on/off broke off. you don'tneed to install the stroke it off program the tungsten has a similar program built in. It's in Pref/More/and your choice of what an upward stroke of the stylus will do either Turn Off& Lock Graffiti help keyboard brightness or Beam Data.
