How do they do it?

I do this not to rub Calgary's nose in it, but as your self appointed Ralph Nader. The price of gasoline in Abbotsford BC................... $0.96/litre. That's a full 10 cents cheaper than here.

I drove through Abbotsford a couple of years ago and saw the same thing. I was informed that it's due to long-standing / ongoing price wars at local pumps. How they make any money at it I don't know, but it's a good thing to know about when you're in the area.

It's not that much that they don't make money in Abbotsford, but that they're robbing us blind here in Calgary... Given the taxe difference, gas should be 10¢ cheaper in Calgary than in other province, however, it's not the case... To the Calgary Oil and Gas worker who brag about his bonus... he probably paid it himself in overpriced fuel!
Nice reference: http://www.mjervin.com/WPPS_Public.htm Price of gas accross the country, both gross and net of taxes, updated weekly.

PS: In my new highly taxed province, gas is roughly the same price as in Calgary... go figure!

Right in Vancouver we are paying anywhere from 103.4 to 111.3 .

Abbostsford is like the mecca for gas out here, but also like Mecca you drive there once a year. Gas companies and governments alike have found that no matter what you charge people will still come. The spirit of greed is here to stay for a while.
