A rock icon's take on the music industry today

A quote from Tom Petty:
"I couldn't exist nowadays. I could never have built a career like I've had if I were just starting out now. Radio doesn't take a chance on anything anymore; they've streamlined the playlists to the lowest common denominator. It's really kind of silly that they think people would rather hear "Stairway to Heaven" one more time than a new song."

Karl.....have you heard Calgary's latest radio station.....x 92.9 ?

I think they have a great format.....no playing the same song over and over again. I think they noticed that there are more than 2 songs on an album.

Yes I have. It's a step in the right direction, to be sure.

I spend just as much time listening to CKUA (independent) and CJSW (University of Calgary) now.
