Darlene and I try to visit every area of our fine city, but there are still places we have yet to find time to see. One of them is the Crossroads Market at 1235 - 26Ave SE in Calgary, hidden in the industrial area. I decided to quickly check the place out because I'm on the hunt for stubby-style beer bottles for the recreation of the Great White North set Bernie and I are building for our Canadian style opener for The Show with Ze Frank.
What a place! It's filled with cool little antique stalls, produce stores, meat and cheese counters, bakeries, ethnic food places and more. One of the places sells Pop Shoppe soda for crying out loud! I managed to wander the place before the crowds arrived. If you haven't been to the Crossroads, I urge you to add it to your agenda. They're only open Friday through Sunday from 9-5, but most of the antique stores do not open Friday. Entrance and parking are free.

We visit there quite often. Pam makes her own salsa (which is to die for) and we buy everything there. Did you notice the meat pie vendors inside? I found my favorite there......steak and kidney pie.

It's even better in the summer and fall when the outdoor market is open. In the spring they have a massive used book sale in the huge outdoor tent.
