Speaking of email........

Why do people drool at the prospect of sending and receiving email on their phone, or their PDA? Hasn't modern office culture and protocol taught you folks anything? Email is a form of communication designed to be ignored. The beauty of email is that you can always defend against responding to it with the usual "I must have deleted it by accident"; "I haven't been at my computer for a couple hours"; "I have so many messages to sift through"; "Let me check my junk mail folder"; etc.

If you insist on making it known that you can now access your email from your cell phone, there'll be no end to the inane messages you'll receive - by people who know damned well that you no longer have an excuse to ignore the messages.

If you insist on communicating with me via email, you'll grow used to the fact that I'll read it when I'm darned good and ready to - and respond in kind. I don't want to answer my messages on my phone. I don't even want to see them until I get home, eat, watch a little TV, play a round of computer game or two and relax.
