Enough with the fees already!

I got my electricity bill in the mail today. Included with the bill itself was the obligatory junk flyer informative notice, which proclaimed "you have the power to manage your electricity bill". On the other side of the notice was a mini-FAQ, which included the question, "does it impact me when others don't pay their electricity bills?" Their answer? "Yes. A portion of the administrative charge on every customer's bill is impacted by any non-payment of bills by customers".

First of all, why did they feel it necessary to volunteer this little tidbit of information? Were they trying to get customers riled up? Because they succeeded with this one.

Second, why the hell should I have to suffer if other customers don't pay their bill? Isn't that what collection agencies are for? Give me a freaking break! What's next? Are the banks going to adjust my monthly fee based on how many people defaulted on their mortgages?

"You have the power to manage your electricity bill"......... apparently not!

This is why it is nice to have the option to choose another company. As of January 1st, all of my bills are being switched to Direct Energy.
