Proving my theory valid.........

Today I was discussing with a friend of mine, the theory that there might be an evolutionary / genetic / cultural correlation that ties stupidity to the desire to acquire things that are not rightfully yours. He had given me examples of people that had tried to sneak / force / whine their way into Calgary's Folk Festival this past weekend. Well, I may have the definitive proof. Enter the girl who, when carded by a waitress who had had her ID etc. stolen, tries to pawn herself off as - you guessed it - the waitress with the missing ID.

OMG! [knock on perp's forehead] Hello!?!?

Please excuse my double-geekiness, but there's two things I've got to add.

The police Captain said: "the odds of something like that happening defy calculation" is wrong.

The chance of it happening somewhere, sometime, are actually quite spectacularly certain. Identities are stolen often. Thieves use stolen identities quite often. It was bound to happen somewhere sooner or later. The odds of being able to predict a priora *which* particularly stupid thief would run into a rightful owner of the ID in question is mind-boggling, but not that it happened at all.

The Calgary Folk Music Festival is great, and even more fun if you volunteer. Check it out!
