"I was not leering....................... I was ogling..."

Nothing says "I love you" more than correcting your spouse when you've been accused of leering at a part of someone's anatomy - even theirs. So to prepare you all for the summerlong event that is people watching, I give you some choices for "types of looking", in decreasing order of subtlety:

[subtle] peeking; glancing; peering; looking; focussing; admiring; gazing; ogling; staring; gawking; gaping; leering [not so subtle]

For Ernest

No...... the reason I said 'for Ernest' is because he is always entertained..... err... bemused by my lists of increasing-order-of-something.

For example, we were working on a list of words to describe varying orders of 'incident', such as calamity, catastrophe, etc.

Yes, I have no life..........

It was actually me that was accused of leering......... when in fact I was simply guilty of ogling.

Fun back?
