"This is radio freedom"

I heard on CBC Radio the other morning that in preparation for the Olympics, countless Chinese have been taking the time to learn English over the last 5+ years.

In a time when the Chinese government is scrambling to block any Internet content that may pollute the minds of the Chinese people, I find it rather interesting that in an effort to ready their people for contact with Westerners, they have essentially given them a new tool to obtain unfiltered information. Because if you can understand English - you can tune in to the many English short wave radio stations from around the world. This is something the Chinese government could never filter out.
