Like hotels don't put enough fees on the bill.....

Here's a sure-fire way to make sure tourists return to your city - charge them a destination marketing fee. This is precisely what I saw on my Ottawa hotel bill. Am I the only person who thinks it's counter productive to finance tourism promotions on the backs of the very people who decided to come in the first place?

Personally it makes me mad when governments or companies enforce additional fees to the public for events outside of the consumer’s control. Would Telus or my landlord like it if I turned around and told them that I was not going to pay 10% due to unforeseen events that impacted my current monthly earnings?
