Get out the skis.....

Ahhh...............summer in Calgary. This year has been a wild one. Record rain in June. And now we have the cold snap of August. The temperature dropped slowly overnight and has settled to a balmy 5C at 3pm today. The picture is a web cam shot of Sunshine Village today, a ski resort a mere hour and a bit from here. Yes - that's snow.......

I know, it sucks....but maybe this will make us all feel better, even considering the monsoon-like weather today.

I lived in Banff a few years ago and when I first got there, snow in the summer surprised me. That feeling didn't last.

It is really shitty that you have such crappy summer weather in Alberta right now...I mean the summer season is short enough in this country, we don't need anything to shorten it further.

Well, don't feel too bad for us. The fact is - I'd take Calgary's dry, often cool summers over sweaty, humid, hot for weeks at a time summers in Ontario. I don't know how I got used to them in the 80s, but I can't take them now. Also, we get chinooks in winter. One day -20, the next +15! Woo hoo!
