Steve Martin is without question one of my favourite artists. So I was truly looking forward to checking out his movie adapted from his novella, Shop Girl. I was also afraid, for Darlene's sake, that it was gonna be another one of his goofy movies. We had just been through some stinker movie rentals, so I was hoping this would be a gem.This is a smart movie. It plays like a documentary - Steve even narrates parts of the story. The characters are totally believable. It just ambles along, shifting from one mood to another, kinda dragging you along. By the time it was over, I was smiling and had totally forgotten what day it was.
Secret message to the guys: it's a total chick flick - but it has Jason Schwartzman - so.... whatever, right?

That's really funny...after reading this post, I decided I too, would see this movie, cause I like Steve myself. I wasn't really smiling though at the end...I thought it was really sad. :( Poor Ray. Heidi
