I am so proud to be Canadian. Sometimes we Canucks don't show our patriotism as overtly as other countries, but maybe we just don't feel we have to. Or maybe we save our displays of affection for the opportune moment.Last night I watched the Edmonton Oilers host the Carolina Hurricanes on TV. During the American anthem, the Canadian fans were actually singing along with the singer. Not loudly, but they were singing. Not booing. Not throwing stuff on the ice. Singing along. Then came Oh Canada. The host chanteur sang the first couple of bars, then lifted his microphone up in the air and stopped. That's when he let the fans take over. I swear - the whole stadium sang that song. It gave me goose bumps.
Edmonton - you're a class act............
