It's not rocket science

I was expecting telephone companies to have evolved to offering unlimited, anytime long distance calls for free (or at least a fixed rate per month). Maybe not to the whole world, but at least within North America. The only reason internet phone service is even a viable option to some people is because phone companies have dropped the ball here. What I find more amusing is that internet phone calls use a cross-country network that is owned and operated by............ the telephone companies!

Imagine if transit companies only offered pay per ride and some other company came along and said "pay us $75 per month and you can ride all you want - anytime". Wouldn't the transit company look stupid?
