I wonder if the names have any relationship to the price. You know how scrabble assigns points to letters based upon their commonality? I'm thinking that IKEA names hint at the value of the item based upon the number of less common letters in the name.
Preliminary test of theory:
Brada laptop support - $5
Alve work station - $550
Mil work lamp - $15
Kivik love seat - $570
If you dig deep enough, my theory falls apart, but it was a fun theory while it lasted....
