Only two days left

The Global Language Monitor is a site that counts down until we reach the one millionth word in the English language. That's based upon the fact that at the current pace, a new English word is created approximately every 98 minutes or so.

English will reach the Million Word Mark on June 10th, 2009 at 10:22 am, GMT.

Among the contenders for the millionth word, there is 'Alchopops' (from Australia); 'Chiconomics'; 'E-vampire'; and 'Cuddies'. Personally, I vote for 'noob', which will hopefully officially be spelt n00b - with zeroes rather than o's.
