In an effort to save money and reduce NBC's contingent in Beijing, all the events that don't really matter to NBC's prime-time Olympic schedule are
being called from NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. Studio 8H............ the same studio where they normally tape Saturday Night Live.
The only thing missing is Don Pardo's iconic voice intro.
Compare that to Canada's CBC network coverage of the Olympics. CBC broadcasts live (depending on the day) anywhere from 12 to 24 hours every day of the Games.
Thanks to Ernest for the material.

Do you recall our conversation when you and Darlene were here regarding the Olympics? We stated that when we did watch it was on the Canadian channel, because the coverage was so much better. This time around we haven't even turned the TV on, we got rid of cable and I don't even know if we get locals channels or not. How is Canada doing, anyway?
Yeah, I was totally thinking about our conversation as I wrote this post.
How is Canada doing? We have a medal count of zero so far. But this is situation normal for Summer Olympics for Canada so far as I can remember.
