I got a great kick out of going through this dictionary of management jargon. What struck me was the sheer number of words that meant or could mean the firing of employees:

• Dehire
• Internal efficiencies
• Jettison employees
• Layoff
• More competitive
• Pare down
• Put off of work
• Ramping down an operation
• Reductions
• Right sized
• Restructuring
• Sacrifice
• Surplused
• Termination
• Trim costs
• Trim fat
