Just a few days before I was born, Alan Shepard took the Freedom 7 Mercury space capsule into orbit around the earth. He became the first American astronaut on 5 May 1961.50 years has past since that historic flight. Where have we gone since? The moon. We built a space station in earth orbit. That's it.
