With just over two weeks until Election Day in Canada, I can honestly tell you that I have absolutely no idea who to vote for.I'm a Liberal, yet I don't want to vote Liberal because they have not wooed me with their political prowess nor their solutions to current issues. Besides, if they win again, I feel as though they will feel more than ever that they can get away with anything. I will not vote Conservative, because I just don't share the same values as they do and I don't trust Harper to keep the ultra-right wing Reformers at bay. So that leaves NDP and Green. Although I like the idea of a party that makes the environment their first priority, and I actually agree with many of Green's ideas, I hesitate to vote for a party that is unlikely to garner much influence in Parliament (at least in this election). That leaves NDP. The problem with the NDP is that they epitomize that ultra-socialist image that still scares a lot of people. It doesn't scare me, but I fear that if the NDP were to enjoy a sudden huge surge in popularity, it would actually frighten so many people (who didn't know better), that the economy and the image of Canada might actually suffer.
So what's a poor left of center voter to do? Probably vote Liberal anyway, because like the man said, "Better the devil you know......"
No.... Karl you been in the darkness for too long. please open your eyes and see the light. I was blind once but now I see. I slap myself everytime I think I voted Liberal once in my youth. It's a different story provincally.I had to vote Dave Taylor over who I consider one of the sleaziest politians around Jon Lord.

KARL!
ReplyDeleteEvery party that gets 2% or more of the vote gets about $1.50 a year per vote. So that's why it's important to vote for your favorite party NO MATTER WHAT.
Joey
That is a good point.
